W50 Back: Berkoff Leads USA 1-2 Punch With Smith; Wan Wins Battle For Bronze With Masse & Cox

Katharine Berkoff, the daughter of USA Olympic relay champion and solo 100m back medals in 1988 and 1992, led a USA gold-silver punch with Regan Smith in the backstroke dash here in at Wold titles in Singapore this evening.

The event will make its Olympic debut act Los Angeles 2028, the battle already heating up, though World record holder Kaylee McKeown, of Australia, opted out of the 50m before the championships got underway last Saturday.

Wan Letian, of China took the bronze in a blanket finish that left Canadian Kylie Masse 0.03sec shy of the podium and Britain's Lauren Cox 0.06sec shy of a medal:
