Paris has announced the dates for the 2026 European Championships: 31 July to 16 August, with pool racing to take place from August 9 to 16, with open water swimming back in the Seine two years after the Olympic showdown, from August 4-8.

The 38th edition of the European Championships will unfold in Paris 100 years after they were first held, for men only, in Budapest in 1926. A year later, women were granted access to the continental showcase, held in Bologna.
The Paris date avoid a clash with the Commonwealth Games, due to be held in Glasgow, scheduled for July 23 to August 2. Britain top home-nation swimmers will leave for Paris straight after Glasgow is done.
