The top Olympic swimming distance freestyle coach of the year begets the International Squad Trophy, too: Germany head coach Bernd Berkhahn and entourage accounted for two gold, two silver and one bronze at the Paris Olympic Games, the prizes going to five swimmers from three countries.

That tally of five separate swimmers from one program making solo podiums was not matched by any other coach.
