Editorial: the sight of Sun Yang* raising his arms and encouraging a crowd to cheer for him ahead of a 'rusty' 3:49 400m freestyle that marked his competitive comeback from a four years and three months anti-doping suspension pours fuel of the fires of mistrust engulfing China and anti-doping authorities global and national.

On numerous levels, Sun's return is China and WADA's worst nightmare. Yes, the rules allow him to be back. No, those rules do not have anything near blanket support of leading athletes when they consider what those same rules do not take into account.

Let's start with shame - or the lack of it.
