Silva Drops Legal Case That Turned Against Him; Whistleblower Feels Vindicated & Says Integrity Demands Accountability
Antonio Silva waves goodbye to action aimed at clearing his name

Antonio Silva, who's dismissal as the president of the Portuguese Swimming Federation was ordered by the nation's top sports authority in early 2024, has dropped a legal complaint after the case turned against him late last year.

Alexandra Jorge, the whistleblower who insists that the work of those overseeing integrity in sport, including Integrity Units at World and European levels, is far from over if they are serious about their brief, issued a statement in response to the news of Silva dropping the case. The statement included:

"This process was not only about exposing irregularities, but also about ensuring that similar situations do not repeat themselves in the future. It is essential that federations adopt clear policies about using their resources to ensure effective and secure reporting channels for the benefit of the sporting community."
