Mintenko Resigns as Managing Director of USA National Team
USA Swimming said Mintenko had played a "pivotal role in the success and development of the U.S. National Team" but with four years to go not a home Games in Los Angeles the pressure to 'bring back dominance' after a near-miss with the Dolphins at Paris 2024 is well and truly on
As expected on the day Tim Hinchey's departure as CEO of USA Swimming was announced, Lindsay Mintenko, Managing Director of the National Team at USA Swimming, has resigned from her post.
The moves come in the wake of an outcome in the pool that saw USA barely hold on to its long-time World No 1 status at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games on gold count, with just one title more than Australia.
With four years to go not a home Games in Los Angeles, where swimming will fill the back-end of the schedule traditionally reserved for track and field, the pressure to 'bring back dominance' is well and truly on.
On the day Mintenko stepped down, Hinchey posted his farewell on the professional/social platform Linked In, noting:
"Some personal news as today is my last day at USA Swimming. What an incredible seven years this journey has been! I'm so grateful to our athletes, coaches, volunteers and staff for their steadfast dedication to our best in class NGB and the sport of swimming! I'm excited for my next professional adventure! Go USA!!"
