World Cup, Round 3 of 3, final day of the Silk Road tour - Astana, Kazhakstan - Dutch ace steals the show as Cup Queen with four triples to her name; and Yu Yiting takes her second medley triple crown too head to home World titles with two shots at a $15k 'expansion' bonus

Marrit Steenbergen is overall points queen of the 2026 World Cup, the Dutch ace ending her three-week-three-rounds on Silk Road Tour from Baku to Tashkent and on to Astana with two more Triple-Crown victories.

First up today, she topped the 100m free for the cup sweep, then matched that feat in the 100m back. Add in her triple-crown in the 100m medley and the 50 back, and the Dutch ace's triple prize pot of $40,000 holds hands with a $100,000 pay day as top points scorer among women in the three-event series.

There was also a $2,500 bonus for 'crown-busting' Siobhan Haughey in the 200m freestyle with a win in Astana that halted the Hong Kong sprinter's own 10k triple ambitions after she'd won the 200 at the first two rounds of the cup.

Coached by Patrick Pearson in Eindhoven, Steenbergen stopped the clock at 50.52 for the 100m free victory today. That was just shy of the European record of 50.32 she set in Tashkent a week ago but good for the win Haughey, who fell just 0.45sec shy of doing to her Dutch rival what Steenbergen had done to her in the 200m.

The Triple Crown prize is given to any swimmer who wins the same event in all three rounds of the cup, a $10k automatic prize backed by the promise of a $15k bonus for any triple crown winner who then goes to World short-course Championships in Beijing in December and wins that same event again.

Steenbergen now has a shot at four $15k prizes on top of any other earnings at the World s/c Championships in Beijing in December.

On Cup tour, she won all three 100m free finals on the 2026 cup tour, respectively in 50.78 and then that Euro all-time topper and all-time No4 50.32. The fight in Haughey, who has a career best of 50.79, all-time No8, was evident down the third length, the only lap she split faster than Steenbergen, 13.11 to 13.16.

The Olympic champion, World champion and record holder in the measure that rules all pools, 50m long-course, Steenbergen sensed the challenged and sped home in 13.06. Haughey's 13.24 good for second in 50.97.

They were the only two inside 52sec, with 900-points-plus efforts:

In the 100m backstroke final, Steenbergen was the sole 900-points plus finalist, on 55.43, after efforts of 55.17 and 55.32 at the first and second rounds of the tour respectively. Canada's Taylor Ruck and American Anna Peplowski were closest to the Dutch sprinter once more:

Women's 200m medley - Yu Yiting's 2nd Triple Crown

Yu Yiting will head to the World short-course championships at home in Beijing with a shot at two $15k 'expansion' bonus prizes, eligible to any swimmer who won the same event at all three rounds of the World Cup.

Having landed the 400IM triple win day 1 in Astana, Yu added the 200IM triple crown today as the Cup drew to a close. Her 2:02.63 victory shaved a further 0.17sec off the Asian record she established in Baku at the first round of the cup two weeks ago.

If Yu led the race from go to gold, then Roos Vanotterdijk (BEL) and Abbie Wood (GBR) were respectively in second and third places through every stroke of the race, all three making the podium with 900-points-pus performances:

Winners in other finals that ended without a 900-points-plus swim:

Women's 200m butterfly: Ellen Walshe (IRL) 2:04.05
Women's 800m freestyle: Gan Ching Hwee (SGP) 8:13.18
Women's 50m breaststroke: Ralina Galiazova 29.54

The men's events to follow on separate file.
