M50 Free: McEvoy & Proud Play Olympic Snap With Gold & Silver
Gold to Cam McEvoy, Silver to Ben Proud - in a repeat of the Paris podium - and bronze to Jack Alexy
Australian dash king Cameron McEvoy continued to pile up the sprint honours with a second World dash crown to add to his Olympic title from Paris 2024 - and his first as a dad.

World Champion in 2023, Olympic champion in 2024, a silver at the intercalated meet in Doha, and now, in 2025, gold again: Cameron McEvoy is on a roll.
“The Professor”, as they call the time-space brain box Down Under, stopped the clock at 21.14 ahead of Great Britain's Ben Proud (21.26) and American Jack Alexy (21.46).

McEvoy's win coincided with the one-year anniversary of his Olympic gold in Paris. His parents watching up in the stands, he dedicated his win to Madi, his wife, who is back home in Brisbane with the couple's newborn son Hartley. Said the sprint king:
“A big shout out to Madi back home with Hartley – thanks so much for supporting me – I would not be here and would not be able to do what I do without you. It’s been a pretty hectic preparation. I’m just glad that I got my hand on the wall first in a great time. Enjoy it while it lasts here, but I’m so excited to get home. (Fatherhood) has given me a new light on the sport, on life, something new to navigate, and I’ll see where it takes me in the future.”
Back in 2023, the same three men shared the podium, but Proud, the 2022 Champion in a summer in which he became the first swimming in history to claim World, European and Commonwealth titles in the same season, had bronze and Alexy silver.
Proud paid McEvoy plaudits when he said: "I’ll come second to Cameron any day. He’s a great advocate for the sport and sprinting, especially for senior swimmers."
