About two dozen Olympic staff were paid more than $55 million in compensation in the 2020ne-to-2024 Games cycle, knocking into a clocked hat the money that went to the best-compensated international federations, World Aquatics among them, into a cocked hat.
Athletes who generate the show that makes the money and keeps the 'non-profit' Olympics business alive? Not even in the same league, nor even race, of course.
Those are the findings of the latest investigation into salaries and who earns what at the International Olympic Committee by journalist Jens Weinreich over at The Inquisitor. And as he puts it:
"Needless to say, there are no direct distributions to athletes".
