One of the most exciting head-to-head battles in swimming in Paris will be between Australian Olympic champion Kaylee McKeown and US champion Regan Smith for the two backstroke gold medals.
Smith broke McKeown’s world 100m backstroke record at the US trials last month, setting a new standard of 57.13s, two-tenths of a second faster than McKeown’s best. Smith finished with silver behind McKeown in both backstroke finals at the Tokyo Olympics three years ago. So how do they get along?
