Fair Play Award For Battling Injustice Goes To The BSCA & Members Who Faced An Unfair Fight

Fair Play Award For Battling Injustice Goes To The BSCA & Members Who Faced An Unfair Fight

Fair Play Awards apply to coaches and others who work in sport, as well as to the athletes and stars of the show.

So, on the eve of our last batch of coaching honours (overall, male and female coaches and coaching teams and their closest contenders) in the SOS awards for 2024, we turn to one of the essential roles coaches would rather not have on their plate: fighting a specific type of injustice that victimises coaches where there is an absence of independent, professional process of inquiry capable of appropriate, yet robust, examination of complaints and the treatment of those hired by clubs and programs to train swimmers.

Our award winner is the British Swimming Coaches Association (BSCA). The recognition goes chiefly to those listed on the BSCA's leaders and office-bearers page and the coaches who have lived (and are still living, in some cases) through torrid times, starved as they have been of due professional and independent processes of the kind recommended by independent investigators on more than one occasion, at Britain and England levels in the UK.
