Kate Douglass crushed her own World short-course record with a stunning and dominant 2mins 12.72 victory in the 200m breaststroke on the opening day of the final round of the 2024 World Cup in Singapore.

The American had left the standard at 2:14.16 a week ago on Cup tour in Incheon but if she shaved the mark back on that occasion, today she throttled it through this flow:

  • 30.47; 1:04.07; 1:38.33; 2:12.72 (34.39) Singapore Oct 31
  • 30.68; 1:04.75; 1:39.20; 2:14.16 (34.96) Incheon Oct 24

Every single length was faster than her fastest today, the race to half-way leaving the Olympic champion 0.68sec inside the pace of her week-old global best.
